Outstanding! Up a slightly lumpy gravel drive, off a very minor tarred road from a small midlands town. In other words, deep country! The setting is beautiful in any weather and there is plentiful seating inside and out. A small children's playground makes it family-friendly. The welcome is warm, the menu is varied and interesting, the waiters excellent and the food delicious as always. The wine list is well chosen. We have dined there several times before as it is well worth the fairly long (over an hour) drive for us to get there. Tumble Downs offers fine dining in a casual atmosphere. Great food and perfect setting for lunch on a cold winter's day. A very enjoyable experience at Tumble Downs. Warmly welcomed by the owners and staff and had a cosy located near the fireplace with a lovely view, perfect setting for a cold winter's day. Family Meal Had heard lots of good reviews but had not been before. Our son and girlfriend took us for dinner on a Thursday night 23rd January. They ordered the Soup and the Grilled Camembert. Three ordered the Lamb Chops with mash as a special request, and I ordered the Moroccan Beef Curry - all the meals were delicious. The curry was full of flavour with the chickpeas and spices, so different from the usual faire. A bottle of Boschendal Blanc de Noir and a Nougat icecream completed the meal for the 4 of us. Romantic Dinner Absolutely outstanding in every way! This was my first time visiting with my boyfriend to celebrate our anniversary. The Curry’s post road is being worked on so be aware. Upon arrival there is outside parking under some gorgeous old trees.Tumble Downs offers outside seating available which overlooks the meander. We opted for inside seating and were not disappointed- the fire was on, the table setup was artfully done and the interior of the building has such a lovely original brick feel. The staff were attentive and there is such a unique selection of meals available - this is not a basic burger and pasta place, Tumble Downs offers a casual sophisticated menu. We had a Herb Crumbed Guacamole Chicken Stack (10/10 garlic sauce was perfectly balanced) and the Beef Fillet Stack (10/10 just melts in your mouth) The prices reflect the quality of food you receive. Hidden Gem in the Midlands A large group of us ranging from ages 3 to 73 had lunch on 27 December. The welcome and service we got from the minute we arrived was wonderful. We sat at a long table adjoining the garden and jungle gym so the children were delighted. Our waiter was exceptional - friendly, attentive, informative and just an all round super guy, we all loved him. Everyone enjoyed their meals very much, I had the deep fried Camembert as a starter and the Crispy Duck as a main, both sublime. Hubby had the Spring Roll starter and a Stack of Steak…done to perfection. The menu has a great variety of wonderful choices, there was not a single complaint from our table of 18. Eating local My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Tumble Downs. We sat next to the fire as it was raining and a bit chilly. The waitron was very efficient and friendly.
